New Dog∙Cat “Import quarantine method”

Microchip transplant and rabies neutralizing antibody examination.

Dog∙cats must have microchips transplanted and the identification number must be filled in the quarantine certificate.
Dog∙cats needs to take the rabies neutralizing antibody examination from the international certified examination facility or exporter government facility, 24 months within boarding, and must have at least 0.5IU/ml and over neutralizing antibody written in the quarantine certificate.

※ Only those under 90 days of being born and companion animal (dog/cat) from rabies non-development region are applied for exemption from rabies neutralizing antibody examination.

Required document and number of head of the animal carrying.

Animal quarantine certificate issued by the exporter government facility.
Microchip transplant number and rabies neutralizing antibody must be filled in the examination specification.
Allowed import number of head of the animal without reporting in advance : under 9 head.

Import quarantine period

Dog∙cats born over 90 days.

The entity is confirmed by transplanting a microchip, and in case the rabies neutralizing antibody is over 0.5IU/ml : “The very day”
In case the microchip has not been transplanted : Until the microchip transplant is complete.
In case the rabies neutralizing antibody examination is not done : Until the rabies neutralizing antibody being over 0.5IU/ml is confirmed.
Incase both microchip transplant and rabies neutralizing antibody examination is not done : Until the microchip transplant and rabies neutralizing antibody being over 0.5IU/ml is confirmed.

Dog∙cats born under 90 days or from rabies non-development region

In case the microchip has been transplanted, leaves on the day.
In case the microchip has not been transplanted : Until the microchip transplant is complete.

(Caution) Other than the world standard type microchip (ISO Standard : ISO 11784 / 11785), the importer must provide a suitable reader personally.

Rabies non-development region (In case the rabies occurrence is reported to the world animal health facility/ OIE, it is exempted from the list, therefore check the certainty of the rabies non-development region from the departing country or the domestic quarantine facility).

Preparing for departure

Rabies vaccination/30 days after the vaccination
In order to take the companion animal overseas, the quarantine conditions of the entering country must be fulfilled, therefore check the accurate current quarantine regulation through Inquiry.

Issuing the quarantine Certificate

Register for quarantine by visiting the Ministry for Food, agriculture and forestry office after preparing the documents such as vaccination verification and health verification etc. needed for issuing the quarantine certificate.
The quarantine officer will issue a quarantine certificate by passing the document review and clinic review (quarantine charge 10,000 won / case)

Before departing

In case a companion animal is being brought into our country from overseas, a quarantine certificate verified by the exporter government facility must be prepared.
In the quarantine certificate, the transplant number for the microchip of each species and the examination results of the rabies neutralizing antibody (Over 0.5IU/ml, within 2 years) done by a international certified rabies neutralizing antibody certification examination facility and the age(DOB) must be confirmed.

In the airplane

The quarantined product of the customs declaration given by the airline employee from the airplane must be filled.

At the airport

Before passing the custom examination, submit the companion animal exporter government facility verified quarantine certificate to the animal quarantine officer.
In case the quarantine certificate is not prepare, it may become the target for return. If the written specification on the quarantine certificate is not fulfilled, a mooring quarantine must be taken from a separate location.
